Now that the Clarendon Royal Hotel has closed down the Overcliffe Hotel

Now that the Clarendon Royal Hotel has closed down, the Overcliffe Hotel, 15-16 Overcliffe, Gravesend, Kent, is the nearest hotel to the event. It is only 6-7 minutes walk from the Town Pier [finish line] and the Three Daws pub [prize giving]. It is in a quiet residential area which is not far from the town station. The building housing the hotel was built around the time that the Thames Match itself originated and it still has a 19th. century character about parts of it, although it is a modern hotel. It has its own small, intimate restaurant and adjoining bar, in the basement. There is plenty of off-road parking, both front and rear.	Photo: M. Wignall 2005
A special discount has been arranged for anyone planning to watch the Match in 2005, as follows: Double room £69 [instead of £85], single room £59 [instead of £75]. This is for Friday 15 or Saturday 16 July. Or both days. The price includes a full English breakfast.
