Thames Sailing Barge Match

COULD YOU HELP US PROMOTE THE MATCH?

Do you live within, say, half an hours travelling time, or so, of the Lower River Thames? Do you have an interest in the barges? Do you have some spare time? If so ... please read on.

The Match needs publicity to keep bringing it to the attention of people, some of which will visit the website and hopefully become Patrons of the Match. It is the contributions of the Patrons that makes it possible for the Match to take place each year. The Match Committee which organises and promotes the event does not receive any guaranteed, or set funding from any particular organisation. It therefore has to be raised all over again, year after year. This is helped by reminding people that the event exists. One way of doing this is through posters and leaflets. The collection provided below has been created for the Match Committee to use but some additional voluntary support from visitors to the site, like yourself, would be welcome.

If you're reading this message you're on-line, so you've obviously got a PC. That usually goes with having a printer. If you'd like to help us spread the word about the Thames Match please consider downloading some of the posters or leaflets that are provided below, printing out a few and getting them displayed in your locality.

THE PURPOSE OF THE POSTERS AND LEAFLETS: Each has  been designed to target people in specific   circumstances. This is explained in each caption. As a visitor they're all relevant to you in terms of being able to distribute them with the exception of two.  No. 10 is aimed at barge owners who base their vessels in the St. Katharine Dock Yacht Haven, below Tower Bridge, London. So unless you fit the bill, please ignore it. No. 14 is aimed at the crews and guests attending the post match prize-giving each year and can sensibly only be distributed by a member of the Match Committee, immediately before the event.  The posters are time limited and have no relevance after the forthcoming match has taken place. The leaflets are not time limited.

POSTER & LEAFLET FILE FORMATS: The posters are in Portable Document Format (PDF) and can be viewed and printed out using the freely available Adobe Acrobat Reader ® which is very likely already installed on your PC already. If it is not you can download a free copy from the Adobe Corp. website here

TO DOWNLOAD A POSTER AND PRINT: left mouse-click on the image of a poster. Your Acrobat Reader ® will automatically launch itself inside your current web browser and then load the PDF version of the image. Then go to "File, Save" [floppy disk icon] and choose "Save a copy" [or similar], then choose a folder on your PC to send it to. After that you can go off-line and study the image and print it. The image is created A4 size i.e. 210 mm x 297 mm, single sided, however if your printer can handle larger sizes it can be printed at whatever size this is. Go to "File, Print" of Acrobat Reader ® and in the "Paper Handling" option choose "Page Scaling" as "Fit to paper". Then print.

TO DOWNLOAD A LEAFLET AND PRINT: as for posters, above.  The image is created A4 size i.e. 210 mm x 297 mm, double sided with the information in columns that allow the sheet to be printed in landscape mode, both sides. The sheet is then folded three times to create a tri-fold leaflet, 100 mm x  210 mm. The leaflets are all designed to print greyscale i.e. "black & white". If your printer has a black ink cartridge in addition to a colour one, switch from your normal colour printing mode to "black & white" mode to avoid using up your colour ink.

COPYRIGHT: Although the posters are copyright their creator you may print them out without restriction provided you do not change their content in any way.
