Results of the Thames Matches: 4th. Series - 1995 onwardsThe individual times for each class of barge within the Match for the years 1995 to the current year used to be provided on this page, in the form of links to Adobe Acrobat® Portable Document Format (PDF) files. They were removed in July 2008 as part of the Committee's policy of shifting information from the website where the information used to be freely available to the public - to the Match Report [which incorporates the Patrons' Newsletter]. This is a publication whose circulation is restricted to Patrons of the current year's Match. The table below is now restricted to a top-level summary of Match information, and is for the benefit of potential spectators who may wish to gain an idea of the scope and duration of past events, so that they can plan their day out to watch the next Match. The amplifying notes below the table are important.
Notes: tba = to be added when info provided by the Hon. Secretary [1] This represents the number that arrived off the starting line and positioned themselves to await the starting gun. [2] The distance is to the nearest nautical mile and is nominal based on a race course following the various buoys. It is for illustrative purposes only as each barge tacks back and forth across the river as necessary, and thus they always end up covering an appreciably greater distance. [3] The duration is given to the nearest quarter of an hour and is for illustrative purposes. The duration is defined as being the time between the Coasting class starting time [which always starts first] and the time of the last barge [irrespective of class] in the Match to cross the finish line, by the end of the Match. This may well be a "laggard". The MV Princess Pocahontas will not wait for this barge but will have followed the front runner[s] up to the finish line - so its passengers can expect a shorter day.
