HOW TO BECOME A PATRON

The most visible and effective way of supporting this special heritage event is to provide financial support through becoming a Patron of the Match. This requires a donation of £35 [or greater at your discretion] and in return you will:

1. have the satisfaction of knowing that you've personally contributed to keeping a remarkable 142 year old maritime heritage event alive for yet another year. There aren't many opportunities available these days in which you can make your mark in such a unique way!

2. receive a copy of the Thames Sailing Barge Match Patrons' Newsletter. This is exclusive to Patrons and contains insights into the preparations for the next years Match, a commentary on the how the current years Match went - usually by the Officer of the Day.

[taken from the 2005 Match Programme]

It also includes any information that the Committee think you would be interested in regarding the historic aspects of the Match, and any new initiatives by the Committee for the future. If you'd like to see the cover page of a past Newsletter, please look here

3. have your name included in the Patrons' page in the Match Programme [see left]. This is a booklet that is printed shortly before the Match itself and a copy is provided free of charge, by post, to Patrons. It is also sold for a small sum on the day of the Match to the public on board the MV Princess Pocahontas - to help with fundraising. If you'd like to see the covers of past Match Programmes, please see here.

So ... maybe you'd like to think about becoming a Patron of the next Match. If so, an application form for the next match is here.

On behalf of the Match Committee, many thanks, in anticipation of your support for this maritime heritage and classic boat event.
